ITI hosts its first ICT & IoT expo successfully

India's first PSU into manufacturing various technology products and solutions, ITI Limited organised the ICT & IoT Start-up expo successfully on September 1st and 2nd at its Bengaluru plant. 500 serious visitors attended the first day of the event, where more than 50 start-ups showcased their solutions. Technology companies Cambium Networks and Logic Fruit Technologies participated as the Platinum Sponsors. Inspira, Interlace and Quardgen Wireless solutions participated as the Gold sponsors while another 8 corporates as the Silver sponsors.

More than 500 entrepreneurs and technocrats participated on the first day of the event, where various technology companies showcased emerging technologies like IoT and defence technology. There were various key-takeaways from the panel discussion sessions. The event also provided an effective platform for start-ups to convert their innovative ideas into marketable products and services.

On the second day, the event saw the presence of Minister Manoj Sinha, State (Independent Charge) for Communications along with Aruna Sundararajan, Chairman, Telecom Commission and Secretary, Department of Telecom, and N Sivasailam, Special Secretary, Department of Telecom. The minister also dedicated the latest telecom testing centre to the nation on this occasion.

The Expo further focused on opening up business opportunities through ICT, IoT and defence technology-based solutions. It focused on standards, policies and regulations on 5G technology solutions, IoT and Smart City, latest trends in Data security/centre/mining, technologies for Defence and telecom testing facilities that have the potential to transform business.

The uniqueness of the event was to identify products from these companies which ITI can take up for manufacturing through Transfer of Technology (ToT). ITI also signed and exchanged ToT with potential start-up and established companies during the event. The most interesting objective was to enable these companies to utilize ITI’s infrastructure to utilize and manufacture their products in ITI under the “Make in India” initiative.

The agreement signed would also help ITI diversify its manufacturing capabilities in partnership with the start-ups thereby supporting the sustainable turnaround of ITI. These include civil and military advanced radar systems and the fifth generation or 5G technology products. The other areas include data storage and networking solutions, digital security, advanced metering, and Wi-Fi products.

ITI has partnered with 58 start-ups and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) covering the manufacturing of a wide range of ICT and IoT-based solutions. ITI Ltd has also entered into an agreement with Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC), New Delhi for establishment of state-of-the-art telecom testing labs at its Bengaluru plant to facilitate mandatory testing of imported and indigenous telecom equipment in India. The agreements were signed in the presence of Union Telecom and Communications Minister Manoj Sinha and Telecom Secretary & Chairman of the Telecom Commission, Aruna Sundararajan.

The event also witnessed signing the Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreements with eight companies, including TEC, 3S Sensor, Nivetti Systems, Lekha Wireless, Quantum Storage, Innoworx, AGT and Cambium Networks.

ITI has bagged many important projects with the Government of India and is expecting to cross orders of over INR 20,000 crore from the present orders worth Rs. 12,000/- crore. This includes the INR 7,500 crore ASCON Phase IV Project, the Army’s backbone telecom network.

ITI is currently working with 20 service providers by connecting 40,000 gram panchayats in the BharatNet project, where it has positioned its GPON Networks.
