YouTube Music has introduced a gradient background redesign of its 'Now Playing' feature for iPhone users. This follows the same update being rolled out for Android users in December. The new design replaces the previous solid color background, which was based on album art, with a gradient that is lighter at the top and darker at the bottom. The gradient redesign is being widely rolled out with version 7.01 of YouTube Music for iPhone and iPad.
The redesign aims to enhance the visibility of the play/pause, shuffle, next/back, and repeat buttons, as well as the scrubber and carousel of buttons. It also brings a modification to the presentation of 'Up Next,' 'Lyrics,' and 'Related' features. These features now appear as floating text buttons instead of being housed in a container.
Despite the absence of a pull tab indicator, users can still swipe up to access their queue quickly.
Users who do not see the update yet are advised to close the application from multitasking and re-open it. However, it's worth noting that the iOS app still lacks a dual-column layout to match the Android experience.
