Instagram users won't be able to send images, videos to people they don't follow
Instagram announced on August 2, 2023, that it will be rolling out a new feature that will prevent users from sending images, videos, or voice messages to people they don't follow. This feature is being implemented in an effort to combat harassment and abuse on the platform.
The new feature will only allow users to send one-message invites to people they don't follow. If the recipient of the invite accepts, they will be able to view the message and start a conversation with the sender. However, if the recipient declines the invite, they will not be able to see the message at all.
Users can also adjust their privacy settings to choose if everyone or only people they follow or no one can send them message requests.
Instagram is also giving users more control over who can send them message requests. Users can now choose to only allow message requests from people they follow, or from people who follow a certain number of people.
The new features are expected to roll out to all users in the coming weeks.
Here are some of the reasons why Instagram is implementing this new feature:
* To combat harassment and abuse on the platform.
* To give users more control over who can contact them.
* To improve the overall user experience.
It is important to note that this feature is not a perfect solution to the problem of harassment and abuse on Instagram. However, it is a step in the right direction and it should help to make the platform a safer place for everyone.
