Infosys bags Global Excellence Award for its bio-medical services
The 2013 Simulating Reality Contest organized by MSC Software has recognized Infosys as a winner for its use of next-generation technologies for engineering design innovation.
Ashok Vemuri, Head of Americas, Global Head of Manufacturing and Engineering Services, Infosys, said, “Bio-medical device manufacturers are looking for solutions that can help them not only design innovative devices but also accelerate testing and validation of products to enable faster time to market of their products. Infosys continues to push the boundaries of bio medical engineering to help our clients deliver better-designed devices to patients faster. This award is yet another testimony to our focus on accelerating innovation for our clients and our growing leadership in the engineering services space.”
The winning team at Infosys has developed an active three dimensional model that simulates the working of the human heart. The model provides medical professionals and scientists with a near real-life scenario to improve understanding of the complexities of human heart disorders.
The model simulates the heart’s functioning, in particular the deformation of heart tissues due to certain stress conditions. This will help medical professionals diagnose heart disorders faster and with a higher level of precision. The model designed as a part of the company’s bio-medical research and development will also help medical device manufacturers test and validate implants, to detect and correct any anomalies quickly.
