IBM organizes Data and AI Forum 2019

IBM has hosted the ‘Data and AI Forum 2019’ in Delhi that brought together key Government stakeholders, industry partners, thought leaders and technology enthusiasts on one platform to discuss the role of Data and AI in fueling a digital revolution in India.

The forum saw over 150 attendees partake in engaging conversations a number of critical areas including - AI’s transformational power in driving socio-economic growth; enabling framework for development and deployment of AI, Global AI Learnings, cross matching of multiple data platforms and role played by data and emerging technologies in enhancing citizen-centric services.

The key event speakers included Karan Bajwa, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia; Amitabh Kant, CEO NITI AAYOG, Ajay Sawhney, Secretary MeiTY, Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, GoI among others. In addition, the Panels witnessed participation of senior government officials from various departments and Ministries including: Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of Delhi, CBIC, GSTN, Department of Defence Production, NIC and BECIL, amongst others. They deliberated on effective strategies to embrace the ongoing digital revolution for better outcomes towards development, growth, governance and more.

Apart from insightful panel discussions, the participants were engaged through the Deep Tech Sessions, which enabled understanding on how they could accelerate their organisational journey to AI. The Forum also drew lot of industry and client interest through guided tours to the Demo Area curated to showcase technological interventions being spearheaded by IBM.

Power of Artificial Intelligence

AI is enhancing the way the world works – enabling predictions with accuracy, automating business processes and decision making. Its economic impact is vast, ranging from greater customer experiences, to intelligent products and more efficient services for companies, countries and society. Even though, AI continues to be a strategic imperative for enterprises as well as Governments, the random acts of AI make it difficult for organizations to truly scale it and reap the benefits. Accelerating the Journey to AI needs a systematic approach which begins with Data – as the fuel, an Information Architecture on any Cloud to manage this data, right tools and services, Open Source technologies, Trust and Transparency and Skills. IBM has built the AI ladder to help clients accelerate their journey to AI and drive digital transformation, no matter where they are in their journey. There are four things companies need to do with their data to climb the AI ladder: Collect and Organize; Analyze it, Modernize their IA and Infuse your data with AI and infuse your business processes.

Karan Bajwa, Managing Director, IBM India South Asia, says, “As the governments look at transforming digitally to deliver services that citizens want, at the heart of this transformation is data. A data-driven government, where, for all critical decisions, actionable information is available when and where needed, is the need of the hour to enable effective and efficient governance and holds the future of a digitally-transformed India. IBM takes pride in partnering these and more transformational journeys in collaboration with the Government.”
