IACC to organize Economic Summit
IACC, the only bilateral chamber for Indo-US business, will be holding a two-day Economic Summit in New Delhi, on 15th & 16th October, 2014 to brainstorm and finalize certain core strategies to help develop, sustain and refuel Indo-American business ventures. The 10th Indo-US Economic Summit as it is officially called has as its theme: “Convergence and Connectivity in Indo-US Economic Relations”. The recent Annual General Meeting of IACC held in Mumbai on 29th September converged with the Indian PM’s visit to the US.
“The Prime minister addressed some key areas in the bilateral relations which need urgent attention and we in IACC are busy putting together an action plan on this. We are especially anxious to help in the GOI’s Skill Development Mission. IACC has members and entrepreneurs with intense exposure to both US and Indian business and work ethos so that we are as a team an ideal agency to facilitate this effort. We have set up key units and core teams taken from our internal resource and from our network, professionals and academics of repute, to plug into GPI’s mission. We are examining the areas of cooperation and would help coordinate with educational and skill development organizations both in the US and India, to add value, training and empowerment to this highly important and critical project,” said Asoke K. Laha, the newly-appointed National President of the Chamber.
Modi, in his address at Madison Square, said that India should start exporting skilled workforce to the US. IACC is looking at skill development as one of the key areas in his immediate action plan.
Laha is very optimistic about the success of new synergizing exercise initiated by Modi last month in the US and would lead IACC in this particular direction in the coming year.
The two-day Summit will include participants such as Shri Arun Jaitley, Chief Guest and Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs & Defence; Ms Nirmala, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Finance and Corporate Affairs; Mr R. Chandrasekhar, President, NASSCOM; Mr John M. McCaslin, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, US Embassy, and many other decision-makers and dignitaries.
The topics under special discussion would be Education and Skill Development, IT and Cybersecurity, Trends in Indo-US Cooperation in Aviation, etc.
