I had no option: Prince Harry on royal split
In his first public remarks over stepping down from the royal duties, the Duke of Sussex has expressed his sadness on his move, saying that he had taken a “leap of faith.”
Giving a speech at a private dinner in London at a fund-raising reception for Sentebale, Prince Harry said, “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth and military associations without public funding. Unfortunately that was not possible”.
He further said that the decision taken was not easy, and was taken after much thought. "The decision that I have made for my wife and myself to step back is not one I made lightly," he said.
"It was after so many months of talks and after so many years of challenges and I know I haven't always got it right, but as far as this goes there really was no other option as I and my wife Megan Markel seek a more peaceful life," he said.
“UK shall always remain my home, and that shall not change”, Harry concluded.
