Huawei announces 3rd Edition of “Maitree” Scholarship 2013
As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative designed for Indian aspiring students, Huawei has announced results of this year’s “‘Maitree” scholars marking the third successful year of its education-based social initiative in India. The Maitree Scholarships aims to build a platform for exchange of ideas between the two nations, fostering a closer understanding of each other’s culture and society.
This year, Huawei has handed over 20 scholarships to outstanding as well as needy students to cover their tuition fees to pursue academic courses in China. The scholarship programme enables aspiring Indian students to opt for various streams, preferably in the emerging areas of science & technology, culture, social studies, architecture and development-related programmes in Chinese Universities. Both Indian and Chinese students have immensely benefited from each other’s interests, knowledge and expertise through this education programme that is committed to nurture Indian talent across boundaries.

Huawei conducts a wide of range of CSR activities in India, including the promotion of education in rural areas through the programme E-Hope, educational programmes for specially-abled children, and higher education and research in the field of information technology.
