Recently, HP Education Services and the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIITB) announced new IT infrastructure certificate programs for undergraduate students across India. These programs will support students to explore careers in the growing remote infrastructure management industry.
Earlier in 2010, HP in partnership with International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) had announced the launch of the HP Network University. Based at the IIIT-B campus in Electronic City of Bangalore, the HP Network University allows IT Professionals to advance their IT knowledge in the delivery of next generation enterprise networks. The coming together of HP and IIIT-B brings expert faculty, best in class infrastructure and a proven industry academia relationship. The partnership of HP and IIIT-B goes a long way in bringing a unique model of research and education on latest in network solutions.
HP also announced setting up of a lab at the IIITB campus wherein the company will provide the software, hardware and technical expertise needed at the lab.
HP Education Services in association with IIITB will launch the certificate programs in Integrated Networks, Network Security and Networking for Cloud.
Prof. S Sadagopan, Director, IIIT -Bangalore, said, “Through a combination of HP’s leading technology education services and IIITB’s mentorship, Indian undergraduates in the networking certificate programs can build their IT skill set, therefore ensuring a steady stream of skilled workers for the industry.”
IIITB will apply its experience and leadership in technical education services to design and administration of the program. HP Education Services will provide a blended model of classroom training to be conducted at the company’s centers across India, as well as Virtual Instructor Led Training (vILT) sessions that enable IIITB faculty to mentor students through virtual sessions.

HP Bets on SDN
It has been recognised that BYOD, apart from allowing employees to use the devices that make them happiest and most productive, also offers opportunities for the vendors. Uday Birje, Country Manager, Network Consulting & Support Services, Hewlett-Packard India, says, “As organisations are in the process of allowing employees to bring their own mobile devices, computers, smartphones, and tablets into the workplace and access corporate applications, the popularity of BYOD is increasing fast. This allows them the application availability at anytime and from anywhere.

A step was taken by HP when it recently announced new unified wired and wireless solutions that deliver a simple, scalable and secure network supporting bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives while creating incremental revenue opportunities for partners. The new solutions and services include solution that supports growing BYOD initiatives. This solution delivers unified wired and wireless management and switching platforms that create a single network for wired and wireless connectivity.
The offerings also enable partners to leverage the HP FlexNetwork architecture to better support their clients’ BYOD essentials with new device on-boarding and provisioning functionalities through a single management application and automated security with software-defined networks (SDN) technology, while being supported by mobility connectivity services.
“Organizations are struggling to deploy BYOD solutions within a complex, legacy infrastructure that spans two separate networks and management applications,” said Prakash Krishnamoorthy, Country Manager, HP Networking, HP India. “HP’s complete unified BYOD solution is the first to solve this issue and combined with HP’s comprehensive training, programs and services-will create new, profitable opportunities for partners.”
