Germany’s leading developer of Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software, Graebert, has recently forayed into the Indian market through its wholly-owned subsidiary Graebert India Software Private Ltd. Recognized as a true innovator in the CAD industry, Graebert has over 30 years of technology expertise, project management and consulting experience in delivering OEM CAD technology to companies such as Dassault Systemes Solidworks, Corel Corporation and John Deere. VARINDIA spoke to Wilfred Graebert, CEO, Graebert, who shed some light on the CAD market in India and his company’s role in the landscape.
What are the new trends on the CAD landscape?
Mobile and cloud computing are the two most important trends that will impact the CAD landscape. An engineer can now easily view and make minor modifications to the drawings on field visits on light, handheld devices without having to go back to the office or lugging a laptop everywhere. With cloud computing, the issues of software piracy disappear immediately, the hosted software is always up-to-date, so deployment issues get simplified to a large extent.
Although CAD files are large and network bandwidth, etc is usually not suitable for CAD use on the cloud today, these are problems that will go away with 4G and newer Gs. There are challenges, too. For example, storing your proprietary files on the cloud has security ramifications. New paradigms of working will result in the emergence of newer solutions that fully exploit these trends. Graebert is one of the first companies to provide CAD software for handheld devices.
What propelled you to launch ARES in India?
India is a large market of young, tech-savvy, well-educated people. India has more than 50% of its 1.2 billion population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35. New users have less affinity to older brands and are willing to experiment with new software that meets their requirements in terms of features and affordability.
India is also becoming a manufacturing and design hub for manufacturers worldwide. This, coupled with investments in infrastructure and real estate, has resulted in an overall increase in the requirements for CAD software in India. There is also a new trend towards buying legal software. So, making production-worthy, affordable CAD software available for the masses will bring more and more users in compliance.
ARES line of software products are full featured and affordable that fully meet the requirements of CAD users in India.
How world you compare Indian market to those of developed economies?
India is a price-sensitive CAD market and there still is a large percentage of pirated licences in use in India. It is also a market where the users are exposed to the features of leading software solutions that they expect in the affordable range of CAD software. ARES software has all the useful features of popular CAD software and the software prices are affordable.
What is your go-to-market-strategy?
We are signing up value-added CAD resellers throughout India. So, if you are reading this and you are a CAD reseller or want to become one, contact Graebert to sign up. We are also signing up distribution agreements with leading distributors to ensure that the software is readily available in the channel in all parts of the country. The distribution will be through traditional 3-tier distribution model as well as through CAD VARs. ARES will provide attractive margins and pre- and post-sales support to the resellers.
How would you empower your channel partners?
Graebert offers attractive margins and actively helps resellers grow their businesses. Both pre-sales and after-sales support will be available from Graebert to support the resellers.
Promotional schemes will be introduced to provide incentives to the resellers to achieve higher levels of sales. Marketing promotions and programmes will be done by Graebert in conjunction with the distributors to increase visibility and awareness about ARES, allowing the resellers to offer valued-added services to the customers and take care of their needs.
