Google unveils new Android logo
Google has rebranded Android with a new look and improvements to the classic green Android figure. The new Android logo hints at a unification between the parent brand and mobile platform. Besides the logo, Google is also rolling out new Android features. This comes ahead of Android 14’s release.
The new logo has “more curves” and “personality”, which adds a youthful vibe to the mobile operating system and has been updated with a capital “A”. This according to Google, makes the letter stand out more prominently against the rest of the letters, while Android’s longtime mascot – the droid is more three-dimensional than ever, showing off its entire body instead of just its head.
Google has also been teasing the new Android branding for a while, starting with the Google I/O, where the Alphabet company briefly showcased the new logo while highlighting some of the new features of the upcoming Android 14 operating system.
It’s been almost four years since Google updated its logo and with the new one, the company is aiming for a significant visual overhaul. Google has confirmed that the new logo will appear on devices and other places later this year.
Google has also updated its “At a Glance widget” which now highlights the weather information and offers dynamic travel updates, located within the pill-shaped widget. The company has also updated its Wallet app, making uploading passes with barcodes much easier. Similarly, Google also announced the integration of Zoom into Android Auto.
