Google Pay has added "Open Wallet" shortcut
With the introduction of the "Open Wallet" shortcut, Google Pay has improved user accessibility to transaction history. It is located at the bottom of the transaction screen and allows for quick access to previous transaction information. This update necessitates more frequent user authentication in line with the platform's latest security enhancement. A feature similar to Google Pay's "Open Wallet" shortcut is available with Apple Pay.
Before the introduction of the "Open Wallet" shortcut, Google Pay's tap-to-pay interface only displayed the credit/debit card, and the Google Pay logo above it, or a seasonal animation. The new feature is a significant improvement for users who want to quickly access their transaction history. This update brings Google Pay closer to Apple Pay in terms of user convenience, which offers a similar feature allowing easy access and switching between stored cards.
A double-click on Apple Pay reveals the default payment method at the top, and all other stored cards below for easy access and switching as needed. This feature is particularly useful for accessing passes and serves as a system-wide hardware shortcut to the Wallet app. The new update from Google Pay aligns it more closely with these user-friendly features offered by Apple Pay.
