Google experimenting with a Discover Feed on the desktop homepage with limited Indian users
According to reports, Google is testing the addition of a Discover Feed, which is accessible on Android mobile devices, to its desktop homepage. The Discover Feed offers suggested information in addition to Google's standard search bar. The company introduced the Discover Feed to its homepage on mobile devices in the US back in 2018.
On Android, the Discover feed is displayed under the search box in Google’s mobile apps. The feed also appears on the left-most pane of the Home screens on some Android devices. Similar to its Android counterpart, the desktop version of the Google Discover Feed also appears below the search bar.
According to a report, the Discover feed on Google’s homepage on desktops includes news headlines, weather forecasts, sports scores, and stock updates for three different companies. In a statement, Lara Levin, a spokesperson for Google, has also verified this change, the report adds. Levin also mentioned that Google is currently conducting this test with limited users in India.
As per the report, Google's experimental interface includes a resemblance to what Microsoft provides on its Bing search engine. Bing feed also includes an extensive array of news articles and additional information.
