GOI sees potential in MSME segment
S N Tripathi, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner MSME, Government of India:
“The idea that our Prime Minister is trying to uphold is that the MSMEs that are spread all over India can be included in one tax, one nation, and one market regime without any pain. The MSME landscape is very wide; there are 67 million enterprise employing 110 million Indians, producing 6000 products, contributing 45% of the manufactured process, contributing 7% of the GDP etc. If we take up the compliance of taxes, may be the sharing in the amount of tax will be less but the scope is big. Our Prime Minister is working to facilitate them so that the transition to GST becomes smooth.”
