Government eMarketplace has been set up as a dedicated e-market for different goods & services procured by Government organisations/departments/PSUs. The earlier 100 year old DGS&D has been shut down and was replaced with a digital ecommerce portal for procurement and selling of goods and services.
Government e Marketplace (GeM) facilitates online procurement of common use Goods & Services required by various Government Departments/Organisations/PSUs. Aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement, the platform provides the tools of e-bidding, reverse e-auction and demand aggregation to facilitate the government users, achieve the best value for their money.
GeM has also initiated “SWAYATT” (Start-ups, Women And Youth Advantage Through eTransactions) to create an open and socially inclusive marketplace for all sellers and service providers. It seeks to bring together key stakeholders, within the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem to the national procurement portal of Government [GeM].
