FreeCharge traffic jumps 4 times
FreeCharge's "Flat 100% Cashback Sale" received overwhelming consumer interest on day 1 of sale as users flocked to grab tempting cashback offers on a range of online and offline offers.
The traffic on FreeCharge surged 4X on the first day of sale, as consumers enjoyed the never-before flat 100 per cent cashback offer across more than 1,00,000 merchant stores.
Offline transactions on merchants like Cafe Coffee Day, Heritage Fresh, McDonald's, Hypercity, Crossword jumped 5 times as buyers enjoyed the surprise weekend deals. Buyers also locked into tempting online deals on Domino’s, Snapdeal, Bookmyshow, Jabong, gaana.com - all made more tempting by the 100 per cent cash back offers.
Driven by exciting offers on recharges, including a cashback offer of “20 on rupees 20” recharge that caught attention of many regular users, nearly 800 recharges were done every minute using FreeCharge on Day 1 of the sale.
The increased consumer interest has also translated into a sharp increase in transactions in the food and dining vertical across prominent merchants like Swiggy, foodpanda, Zomato etc over a non-sale day. More than 2,100 orders were placed every minute on Day 1 of the sale.
Speaking on the same, Govind Rajan, CEO, Freecharge said, “The enthusiastic response we have already received on the first day of flat 100 per cent cashback sale is a huge testimony to the effort and great motivation to keep up the cashless momentum. Post demonetization, the team is putting in long and exciting hours to ensure that we provide more and rewarding options for our users to go cashless.”
In the lead up to the sale, FreeCharge had prepared extensively by scaling up its systems such as the checkout process, the fraud management system to ensure a seamless experience for its consumers. To ensure the same, the customer service team was also ramped up by close to 3 times to reduce the turnaround time for query resolution significantly.
