Foxconn ties up with NTU
To promote biomedical development in Taiwan, Foxconn has announced that its Chairman, Terry Guo, also founder of Yong Lin Health Care Foundation, has signed an agreement with National Taiwan University (NTU) for cooperation.
With this collaboration, the Foundation will donate a total of NT$10 billion (US$333 million) to fund establishment of the Yong Lin Biomedical Engineering Center, a 500-bed cancer therapeutic hospital to be operated by NTU and a radiation science and proton therapy center, with the biomedical engineering center to be inaugurated in March 2014.
Yong Lin Biomedical Engineering Centre will cooperate with NTU to recruit more than 100 biomedical professionals from around the world to undertake biomedical research in cancer therapeutics. The Foundation will also offer NT$5 billion to support the engineering centre's research in cell therapy, radiation medicine, smart hospital, prevention medicine, medical electronics and biomedical materials.
