Even my parents used to see my face and faint: Rangoli on her acid attack
Actress Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel too is an acid attack survivor. In a recent interview, Rangoli narrated the incident when she went through this brutal phase. She too had ignored the advances of a guy who had proposed her for marriage, she says. She narrated the whole incident in tweets, also declaring the name of the guy (Avinash Sharma) who caused her this pain.
Rangoli said that Avinash had proposed to her but since she never shared the same feeling she kept a distance from him. When her parents got her engaged to an Air Force officer, Avinash became violent, she said. He had even threatened her by throwing acid over her face, but she brushed off such threats and went to the police, instead of involving her parents.
“I was sharing a PG house with four girls, when a young stranger came asking for me… my friend said that someone is asking for me, I opened the door, he was carrying a jug full of (acid)...and just then in one second CHAPPAK,” she wrote. She tweeted this around the time of Chhapaak’s release, which is based on an acid attack survivor.
After the incident, Rangoli said that even her parents used to see her face and faint. But her younger sister Kangana stood by her side like a rock.
Rangoli thanked her sister for all she did for her. “I can never pay back what you did for me, at that tender age you were just 19 years old. Even our parents couldn’t take the horror of that accident. They used to see my face and just faint. But you stood by my side, washed my wounds, worked day and night to pay for my treatment, and then after years of struggle when things got better you buried your face in my lap and cried ...thank you Chotu,” she wrote in her tweets.
