EESL providing an impetus to the e-mobility ecosystem in India

EESL is a joint venture of four National PSEs – NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, REC and POWERGRID, and was set up under the Ministry of Power. Over the past year, EESL has forayed into everything from smart electric meters to electric vehicles and solar power plants.
As a part of the digital transformation process, the Noida-headquartered public sector company has recently launched the National E-Mobility Programme that aims to provide an impetus to the entire e-mobility ecosystem including vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure companies, fleet operators, service providers, etc.
The Programme will be implemented by EESL which will procure electric vehicles in bulk to get economies of scale. These electric vehicles will replace the existing fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles. EESL had procured 10,000 e-vehicles last year and will issue a new tender very soon for 10,000 more e-vehicles to cater to the growing demand.
