Leveraging on the diverse portfolio of solutions, Dell Technologies has maintained its position in both Converged Infrastructure and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure. The company continued its growth journey by virtue of advancing portfolio which is based on customer feedback, and by delivering the fastest and simplest paths to achieving IT outcomes, innovation and business goals. In Q4 18, Dell secures 28.6% of the $1.9 billion in industry revenue, growing fast and steadily.
“In 4Q18, Dell Technologies maintained its undisputed leadership of the Converged Systems industry. At 31.8%, Dell Technologies expanded its lead to more than 2.5 times our nearest competitor. Dell Technologies also continued to distance itself as No. 1 in HCI systems sales revenue, thanks to the continued strong growth of VxRail and the breadth of our HCI portfolio. While the HCI systems industry grew an impressive 46.5% year over year, Dell technologies further distanced itself as No. 1 in HCI with 28.6% of the $1.9 billion in industry revenue for Q4, growing faster than the market at a whopping 64.2%, according to IDC. We continue to expand our CI and HCI leadership through advancing our portfolio, based on customer feedback, and by delivering the fastest and simplest paths to achieving IT outcomes, innovation and business goals. We do this through industry leading and trusted technologies, close collaborations for tightly integrating offerings, and the industry’s most diverse portfolio that enables us to offer incredible solutions for any type of computing environment and customer preference,” highlights Amit Mehta, Director, Modern Data Centre, Dell Technologies.
India Market
Dell Technologies observes a rapid growth in the HCI market with over 40 percent YoY and India has a huge growth potential as many organizations who are in next phase of growth and looking to embrace new technologies are considering HCI as their primary choice for their infrastructure needs. In line with market growth the revenues in this segment are expected to grow at min 60% for India.
Further talking about the market Amit explains, “We now have all the top HCI vendors present in India market, which will further fuel the growth of the market. Adoption of converged and hyper-converged infrastructure in India is expected to grow significantly as these systems can help address some of the key critical challenges. Datacenters have restrictions when it comes to scaling easily because of the legacy infrastructure and the related migration challenges. Organizations are fixing these scalability needs by adding resources but this process is getting complex. Organizations are looking for complete open environment, so that they can plug and play the required resources without any integration challenges and be more flexible to organizational needs. These are some of the areas where HCI can simplify the process, improve performance, scalability and reduction in hardware footprint in Datacenters.”
Enterprises & HCI
Dell Technologies finds that HCI is the popular IT infrastructure in the market and in India it attracts maximum interest. It is becoming popular because of the software-defined approach.
“HCI is the fastest-growing part of the IT infrastructure market today as businesses of all sizes desire for substantial infrastructure simplification. In India, hyper-converged infrastructure systems are attracting the largest amount of interest among the converged systems portfolio. Its software-defined approach, which abstracts the compute, storage and networking on a single plane, is a key factor for the rise of interest in HCIS. HCIS’s single-vendor support model and ability to match a large number of use cases offers greater benefits and eliminates complexity. As per IDC, India would be a USD 63M market for HCI by 2020. & the market is expected to grow at a GAGR of 43%,” says Amit.
Latest offerings
Talking about the offerings of Dell Technologies, Amit elaborates, “We recently announced the arrival of VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell Technologies VxRaila fast and easy path to deploy and operate hybrid cloud through a fully integrated platform. Cloud Foundation on VxRail offers the operational hub for your hybrid cloud, delivering consistent infrastructure and consistent operations with full stack integrity—meaning a seamless experience from the hyper-converged infrastructure. VxRail delivers an experience that is not available on any other on-premises infrastructure running VMware Cloud Foundation. Delivering a unified user experience, VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail is lifecycle managed as one complete, automated, turnkey on-premises experience, greatly reducing risk and increasing IT operational efficiency. This tight integration facilitates smooth, rapid deployment and a simplified management experience while also delivering infrastructure agility that can accelerate your organization’s ability to offer IaaS and PaaS.
Dell Technologies customers are using Azure Cloud Services today to modernize core IT capabilities and to extend on premise data center capabilities with Azure cloud-based services. As one of Microsoft’s biggest partners, Dell Technologies collaborated with Microsoft to develop hybrid solutions for years. Microsoft Azure Stack HCI is a hyper-converged Windows Server 2019 cluster that uses validated hardware to run virtualized workloads on premises, optionally connecting to Azure services for cloud-based backup, site recovery and more. Dell Technologies Azure-dedicated portfolio today includes support for both Azure Stack and Azure Stack HCI. Azure Stack, an extension of Azure on-premises that can run on Dell Technologies hyper-converged engineered systems, allows users to consistently build and run cloud applications anywhere across the Azure ecosystem, using the Azure Portal with Azure IaaS and PaaS services. With Azure Stack HCI, a BYO on-prem private cloud solution, users can run virtualized workloads in a familiar and flexible way - but with the efficiency of Dell Technologies hyper-converged infrastructure – and connect to Azure public for hybrid scenarios such as cloud backup and cloud-based monitoring.”
