Dell Launches Exclusive Teachers’ Finance Card

Dell India in association with Bajaj Finance has launched an exclusive finance card specifically for teachers, to make PCs more affordable and easily accessible for them. Teachers are a key target audience for Dell under its recently launched PC for education initiative - Dell Aarambh. Through the year-long pan-India initiative, Dell plans to engage with three key audiences - students, teachers and parents - to collectively look at computer education beyond its functional scope, and expand their outlook to see the PC as a tool to help unleash their full potential.

After embarking upon the first leg of its ‘Aarambh’ journey, Dell has already undertaken PC learning trainings for over 22,000 teachers in over 1200 schools across the country so far, as part of its ongoing effort  to train 100,000 teachers by early next year, with basic PC learning courses delivered by NIIT. Teachers, who have taken basic courses qualify for advanced learning and are certified to pass on the acquired knowledge to the parenting community that they interact with often. For these teachers, Dell will provide an exclusive finance card to assist in purchasing a PC, with the options of 18 and 15 month interest free EMI schemes and zero processing fees, starting September 5, 2016.

‘Dell Aarambh’ was born out of Dell’s assessment of reasons impacting India’s PC penetration, one of which is PC awareness and digital literacy. Today’s students, are tomorrow’s workforce and with the right exposure, have the capacity to become true ‘Digital Indians’, Through Dell Aarambh, Dell is attempting to create awareness about the PC as a useful tool for enhancing learning among children, by first enabling their educators i.e. teachers. The program aims to include both parents and teachers to actively aid in the educational development of the child, thereby creating a knowledgeable and supportive ecosystem for the child. The year-long project aims to reach 1 million students and 100,000 teachers across 5,000 schools; and 200,000 parents in 75 cities across the country.

Commenting on the announcement, P. Krishnakumar – Vice President, Consumer & Small Business, Dell India said, “After the initial momentum of Aarambh, we decided to take a step further for the teaching community who were the first to be engaged by us under this large movement. Education is seen as the path to progress and teachers, for both students and their parents, have always been viewed as guides on that journey. Through Dell Aarambh, we hope to create awareness among the teaching community on how technology can be used as a tool to enable and advance learning. It is only befitting to make it easier for Dell Aarambh trained teachers to possess their own PC, and through this offer we are making PCs more affordable for teachers with zero interest EMIs that can be as low as Rs.1600/-*per month for a PC costing around Rs.28,000/-.”

The Dell – Bajaj finance card enables teachers under this program to purchase a PC with ease via consumer friendly financing options. The card will be applicable across 168 Dell Exclusive Stores in 75 cities across India. Along with the existing 9 and 12 month EMI schemes at zero interest for consumers, the Dell Aarambh Teachers’ Exclusive Finance Card holder will also be eligible for attractive 15 and 18 month interest free EMI options from Bajaj Finance for their purchases. The longer period for repayment makes the EMIs more affordable.
