CSP can expect more work for CPSEs

Cloud first policy by Govt. of India takes root in, as per of empowering Digital India as many as PSUs on board and empaneled CSPs of Government of India.

Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) are those companies in which the direct holding of the Central Government or other CPSEs is 51% or more. As on 31.3.2016 there were 320 CPSEs wherein, 76 enterprises are yet to commence commercial operation. Remaining 244 are operating enterprises (covering 181 scheduled CPSEs & 52 CPSEs has been considered provisional). The 181 scheduled CPSEs, i.e. 64 Schedule 'A', 68 Schedule 'B', 45 Schedule 'C' and 4 Schedule 'D' CPSEs. The Schedule-wise list is as under.

Different types of Public Enterprises :

* CPSEs (Central Public Sector Enterprises) - Companies where the direct holding of the Central Government or of other CPSEs is 51% or more

* PSBs (Public Sector Banks) - Banks where the direct holding of the Central/State Government or other PSBs is 51% or more

* SLPEs (State Level Public Enterprises) - Companies where the direct holding of the State Government or other SLPEs is 51% or more

In order to utilize and harness the benefits of Cloud Computing, Government of India embarked upon an ambitious initiative – “GI Cloud” which has been coined as ‘Meghraj’. The focus of this initiative is to accelerate delivery of e-services in the country while optimizing ICT spending of the Government.

The architectural vision of GI Cloud as mentioned above consists of a set of discrete cloud computing environments spread across multiple locations, built on existing or new (augmented) infrastructure, following a set of common protocols, guidelines and standards issued by the Government of India.

A million dollar question is on can there be a policy wherein Social media companies serving the India Customers also get registered in India, Like WhatsApp? and have Indian Laws applicable on them. Can it be made mandatory for atleast Indian private and public companies to host their data in India? Why should they host outside? Don’t we have technology specialists in India?

In a positive note now Central Public Sector Units( CPSU) has onboard as Provisional Empanelment of Eleven (11) Cloud Service Offerings of Cloud Service providers (CSPs) Cloud Service Providers including ESDS Software solutions Pvt. Ltd. And CtrlS Data centers Ltd.

ESDS Software solutions Pvt. Ltd. has got the contract from EESL,MINISTRY OF POWER,MINISTRY OF ROAD,TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS, whereas CTRLS Data Centers Ltd. has received the work contract from IREDA,MNRE,REC,MINISTRY OF POWER,KVIC,MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
