Compass-Supertron together organize Blood Donation Camp on World Blood Donors Day
Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS) and Supertron Electronics Pvt. Ltd (SUPERTRON) organized Blood Donation Camp as their CSR project on the World Blood Donors Day with the support of Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal at BNCI Auditorium.
14th June, 2018 is observed as World Blood Donors Day 2018 and this year the hosting country was Greece, with the theme "Blood Connects Us All". The day has the slogan ‘Share Life, Give Blood’, referring to the caring and cohesion that giving blood and caring for others involves.
Every year, India requires about five Crore units of blood, out of which only a meagre 2.5 Crore units of blood are available. In our country, around 75% of this collection comes through voluntary donations. In West Bengal, forerunner in national blood donation movement, 85% of its, that is around 10 lakh units of annual demand comes from donation camps.
More than 100 persons have donated blood which is a landmark, as according to the Blood Bank, as the participation of so many people is a rare scenario. V.K.Bhandari, CMD of Supertron Electronics Pvt. Ltd, inaugurated the blood donation camp with a lamplighting ceremony along with other COMPASS officials.
