Coinbase hires Pankaj Gupta to lead India operations
The US-based cryptocurrency firm has hired Pankaj Gupta, Google Pay’s former engineering lead in India and Asia Pacific, as the vice president of engineering and site lead for India.
Coinbase, valued at 64 billion dollars, is making its way into the Indian market and has hired a former Google executive to do the job and he'll be responsible for "building from scratch the company's technology hub in India. Coinbase, which recently went public in the US, plans to acquire startups in India.
Gupta was leading Google Pay’s engineering efforts in India and the Asia Pacific, said in a blogpost. “Specifically, the plan is to hire hundreds of employees across all levels in engineering, product management, UX design, research and program management within the next 1–2 years to build out a full tech hub in India .
Pankaj said on his tweet, after ~4 wonderful years leading Google Pay Engg in India and APAC, I am leaving Google at the end of this month.
