Chhapaak boycott: Deepika’s film on track to do record business
Deepika recently earned angry comments from her fans, when she chose to visit JNU to show her support to the students.
She was filmed meeting the JNU students President Aishe Gosh and stood stoically as former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar raised slogans, decrying the government and its policies including the passage of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizen (NRC), as well as National Population Register (NPR).
“I feel proud about it that the people are coming out- be it on streets or wherever they are- they are raising their voices and expressing themselves as it is important. If we want to see a change in life and society, it’s important that a point of view be put forward” said Deepika later to a news channel.
Padukone’s decision has raised the hackles of a section of Twitterati, who has decided to boycott her current film “Chhapaak”.
But this is not the first time any Bollywood film is under the boycott scanner; earlier too films like P.K. (released 2014), Veere Di Wedding (released 2018), Padmaavat (released 2018), Dangal (released 2016) had to face boycott and allegations, but somehow these films not only managed to rise above the boycott level, but also make a record collection.
On the same lines hence, it is being believed that Chhapaak too shall manage to join the bandwagon.
