Can Telecom operators to accountable for securing the connections

Running the telco business by the telecom companies is not a easy task, it is the most serious game. Communication industry is accelerating. Going forward there would be a new revolution to come in the coming days. Telco’s have the huge infrastructure, which a company into data center business .they could hardly think off. In other way, without Telco, noting is possible for the communication point of view. Telecom operators have much larger responsibility to ensure network security.

Telecommunications, has become virtually inseparable from computers: Computers and telecommunications create value together. Any devices which are connected with the IP address can talk to each other, only with the help of telecom connections. The widespread use of various devices over the networks, and in particular the ability to access and control so many aspects of daily life via communications, has meant that it is now essential to build solid security protection into industrial, commercial and consumer products and services and to ensure that sufficient attention is paid to security throughout the entire lifecycle of the product or service.

Telecommunications are the means of electronic transmission of information over distances. The information may be in the form of voice telephone calls, data, text, images, or video. Today, telecommunications are used to organize more or less remote computer systems into telecommunications networks. These networks themselves are run by computers.

Physical damage is any harm to an organization’s hardware assets, e.g., servers, laptops or network devices, caused by improper storage environment, inadequate hardware maintenance, natural disasters and other factors. When it comes to cybersecurity the telecommunications sector is widely viewed as one of the most vulnerable to cyber security attacks.

With telecom companies having large customer bases, there are abundant opportunities for ‘malicious actors’ to gain unauthorized access to their data. Mobile devices, for instance, provide a huge area of vulnerability, as do home routers and unsecure mobile apps. If an attack were to occur on a major telecom provider infrastructure, the consequences would be far-reaching, and could potentially impact a whole country, with businesses, consumers and government agencies likely affected

The use of information and communication technology (ICT) has proliferated, there has been a rapidly-growing awareness on the part of all ICT users of the need to ensure effective protection against the cyber threats that continue to increase and diversify with alarming rapidity.

There are certain best practices, which has been followed by the Telcos including, Security management embraces many activities associated with controlling and protecting access to system and network resources, event monitoring and reporting, policy and auditing, as well as managing the information related to these functions and activities. The topics of information security management, risk management and asset management are the focus of one section. Management activities associated with securing the network infrastructure are discussed later in the text in a section that covers the need to secure the data used to monitor and control the telecommunications network as well as topics related to network management and common security management services.

Some telcos are using the identity management, which is of growing importance, is introduced together with telebiometrics i.e. the use of biometric characteristics for personal identification and for authentication in telecommunication environments.

With the issue of cyber security is looming into every sector, it is the time for telcos to open the card, it requires a different mindset, Collaborative communication, cybersecurity, cloud and data center services can drive the telco Business with positive EBITDA . The need of the hour is each telco to have their own data center, to offer varius value added business.

Recently, Airtel has stitched together a cybersecurity bundle ‘Airtel Secure’ targeting the domestic market which will reach $13 billion by 2025. It is looking to layer on top of its connectivity relationships with large enterprises and assets like data centres, security as a service. The telco has now stitched together partnerships with multiple vendors, each of whom has a specialised focus.

Secondly, Airtel also signed a multi-year, Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services to offer a comprehensive set of innovative cloud solutions to large enterprise and small and medium enterprise customers in India.

Lastly, as the newer technologies based on mobile connectivity, social media, cloud computing and big data are leading the way, driving efficiency and productivity. Creative business models of organizations along with innovative products and services are driving consumer demand, creating job opportunities and empowering employees. To address this issue, the telecom industry around the world is redefining communication services more frequently .
