“A CEO’s message at a CXO Meet is as follows - “Although today company is doing well but we need to take the next step for our future… We need to compete in the market with new technologies… Digital is very essential and we need to reap the benefits of Digital in every function… We need to hire young and a dynamic CIO to take this journey forward”
A new CIO with great ambitions and energy was onboarded. Three to four weeks were over and the CIO called a meeting and presented the Digital roadmap of the organization which was prepared after a series of meetings with the CXO. The CEO and the entire leadership team understood the roadmap and the CEO instructed to take it forward to be implemented. How soon this can be implemented, was the question from the CEO to the CIO.
The CIO and Business Head worked jointly and the Project moved sequentially through various phases of project management. And then the final roll-out happened.
Today is the era of Collective Leadership! Business should join hands with IT and not leave the organization’s future solely with the technologist. A CIO alone cannot lead the digitalization journey of an organization but there should be a combination of Business leadership along with technology leadership.”
