Apple may launch Apple Pencil 3 instead of upgraded iPads
As reported earlier, Apple may not launch “new” models but may upgrade a few older ones. The tech giant is reportedly planning to announce upgrades to three iPad models which include -- updated iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad models this week.
The iPhone maker is also planning to launch a third-generation Apple Pencil, the Apple Pencil 3 instead of new iPad models. The report notes, “Rather than an update to the iPad itself, the Apple Pencil 3 will be launched, which will come with a replaceable magnet tip.”
Last month, another report said that the new Apple Pencil is expected to feature interchangeable magnetic tips for different purposes. This includes drawing, technical drawing, and digital painting.
The second-generation Apple Pencil was announced by the company on October 30, 2018. This model comes with one non-magnetic tip, however, the company provided replacement tips for it. The Apple Pencil can attach magnetically to iPad Pro models (2018 and newer), iPad Air models (2020 and newer) and the latest iPad mini. In India, Apple Pencil 2 is priced at Rs 11,900.
Apple still offers the first-generation Apple Pencil, which is equipped with a Lightning connector, designed to be used with the tenth-generation entry-level iPad and certain earlier iPad models.
Rumours suggest that an update may be in the works for this Apple Pencil model, and it may arrive with a USB-C connector in the coming days. The original Apple Pencil was initially introduced in November 2015 and is now available at Rs 9,500.
