Android users may soon be able to transfer video calls with Device Groups feature
Google may soon introduce “Device Groups” to offer better compatibility within the Android ecosystem. Device Groups will allow Android devices to transfer video calls between devices. The company has lately introduced multiple Android features that aim to help users by linking their devices together. Earlier, Google introduced a cross-device feature that allowed users to move voice calls between devices.
A blog post claims that Google is moving away from “Link your devices'' phrasing for this feature and will instead call it “Device Groups.” This feature will enable users to add devices to a group that are linked to their Google account during setup, or invite them later on.
The report has also shared the screenshot of a pop-up that will appear ahead of initial setup. This pop-up will bring out two use cases - one of them is the ability to transfer an active video call between devices.
In the image, Google explains how this feature will work. The company claims:: “See ongoing video calls from other devices and seamlessly move them here.”
The pop-up will also offer another use case which will be the ability to “share internet access when your other devices are offline.” With this feature, users will be able to enable or disable hotspots on another device in the group.
The report however didn’t mention when Google is planning to release this functionality for Android users, though it is understood that the company is expected to make these features available soon.
