Amazon.in launches second Fulfilment Centre in Ahmedabad
Amazon.in has launched its second Fulfilment Centre (FC) in Gujarat. Spread over close-to 120,000 square feet with over 350,000 cubic feet of storage space, this new Fulfilment Centre situated in Bhayala Village near Ahmedabad will empower thousands of small and medium businesses to leverage the growth of the digital economy and reach a wide customer base. Along with this FC Amazon.in now has two FCs in Gujarat offering close to 450,000 cubic feet of storage space for faster delivery to customers in the region. This is one of the seven recently announced fulfilment centres for this year. Amazon will have 41 fully operational Fulfilment Centres in India before the festive season begins.
Shri Vijaybhai R. Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, said, “Amazon India’s latest investment with the launch of their second Fulfilment Centre in Gujarat signifies the growing interest of large global enterprises in Gujarat. The FC will enable thousands of small and medium businesses selling locally created products such as apparels, handlooms and handicraft to service customers seamlessly across the country and the globe. It will also fuel the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state. We are committed to enabling the ease-of-doing business and enabling companies like Amazon.in to expand their presence in Gujarat.”
“In line with our vision to transform the way India buys and sells, we have been consistently investing in enhancing our capabilities to provide a superior experience to both – buyers and sellers. With the launch of a second Fulfilment Centre in Gujarat, we strongly believe that we will be able to better serve our Prime customers with one-day and two-day delivery.
Furthermore, for our sellers, the new FC will enable thousands of small and medium businesses to save money by replacing their upfront capital expense with low variable cost and pay only for the storage space they use and the orders that we fulfil. The FC will also create numerous skilling and employment opportunities for the youth across the country,” said Akhil Saxena, Vice-President, India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India.
Through these Fulfilment Centres with state-of-the-art infrastructure, Amazon.in will provide a delightful customer experience through Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA). When using FBA, sellers across India send their products to Amazon’s FCs and once an order is placed, Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order to the customer, provides customer service and manages returns on behalf of the sellers. Orders fulfilled by Amazon are eligible for Cash on Delivery, Guaranteed Next-Day, Same Day, Release Day, Morning delivery and Sunday delivery. Sellers always have the flexibility to choose the number of products they want to have fulfilled by Amazon and scale according to their business requirements.
