Amazon launches Echo Show 5 with 5.5” screen priced at ₹8,999

Amazon has announced the newest addition to the Echo Show family—the Echo Show 5. With its 5.5-inch display, rich sound, HD camera, and built-in camera shutter, Echo Show 5 lets see visuals and do more with Alexa around the home—all for ₹8,999.

With rich and full sound, Echo Show 5 is great for watching music videos from Hungama by saying, “Alexa, play latest music videos”. Catch up on favorite shows and videos from Prime Video, or short news clips from Aaj Tak, NDTV and more. Kids can have fun with Alexa skills like ChuChu TV and Vir The Robot Boy. Coming soon, a new integration with wikiHow will allow access to hundreds of how-to videos by voice—all users have to do is ask to learn how to open a tight jar, clean a convection oven, make a paper crane, or solve a Rubik’s Cube.

Echo Show 5 also has a rich sound. Listen to favorite songs from Amazon Music, Saavn, Gaana, Hungama Music, TuneIn, and more. Simply say, “Alexa, play party songs” to play music for dinner party.

Connect with Family and Friends

Stay in touch with closest friends and family with hands-free video calls to those who have an Echo Spot, Echo Show, the Alexa App, or Skype. Plus, with Echo Show 5 in multiple rooms of home, users can easily drop in on another room or make an announcement that dinner is ready.

New Ways to Control Your Smart Home

A new smart home dashboard on all Echo Show devices gives even more control over compatible smart home devices and groups. Simply say, “Alexa, turn on the lights,” and use the on-screen controls to adjust the light’s color or brightness. Users can also view their smart home camera feed, access recently used devices, and manage smart devices by room.

Expanded Routines with Alexa

Now, users can customize their morning and evening routines with Alexa. Set an alarm at night and Alexa will ask if they’d like to listen to nature or sleep sounds to relax. When the alarm goes off in the morning, wake up to an Alexa Sunrise—the screen on Echo Show devices will naturally brighten and display a sunrise animation before the alarm goes off. Users can also create a routine using a smart plug to switch-ON the Geyser 15 minutes after the alarm goes off, or one that gives weather forecast, and morning news when it is said “Alexa, start my day.”

Personalize Your Experience

Choose from all-new clock faces or add a personal photo from the latest vacation to make the home screen unique. Users can also connect to Facebook account and play a slideshow of photos, view a specific album or set photos to rotate in the background. Plus, the new ambient lighting mode auto-adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the brightness of the room. To get even more from Alexa experience, swipe left from the far right side of the screen to access shortcuts and discover all that Alexa can do—from smart home controls to recipes, reminders, skills and more.

Privacy by Design

Echo devices are built with multiple layers of privacy protections. As with all Echo Show devices, the new Echo Show 5 includes a microphone/camera off button that electrically disconnects both the microphone and camera, and a clear visual indicator that shows when audio or video is streaming to the cloud. Plus, Echo Show 5 has a built-in camera shutter so users can easily cover the camera, while still being able to talk to Alexa.

Coming soon, a new Alexa Privacy Hub will offer a single source of information on how Echo devices are designed as well as the controls users have over Alexa experience. It will also be easier than ever before to delete voice recordings on all Alexa-enabled devices—all they have to do is ask. Customers will be able to say “Alexa, delete what I just said” or “Alexa, delete everything I said today” and the respective recordings will be deleted.

Echo Show 5 is available in two colours - Black and White, for ₹8,999. It is available for pre-order today at amazon.in/echoshow5 and will start shipping in July. It joins the Echo Input, Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, and Echo Show to create the Echo family of devices.
