AGC Networks appoints Essar CIO Jayantha Prabhu as its India business Head

Earlier this month, Jayantha Prabhu, CIO at Essar Group, was appointed as the India business head at AGC Networks, a global solution integrator. Prabhu has played a key role in driving digital transformation and using technology for business processes at Essar. He boasts of 25 glorious years of experience in the industry.

Under his leadership, Essar became one of the earliest companies to adopt digital transformation and he hopes to leverage his wealth of experience at AGC as well. As a driver of IT solutions with the right business acumen, Prabhu’s appointment is only natural.

According to Prabhu, his role as the main driver of driving business transformation through technology for internal or external customers at Essar is one aspect that is common with his appointment.

Prabhu plans to focus on partnering with select OEMs for IT infrastructure, information security, and enterprise applications stacks in order to help organizations in their business transformation drives.

“Leading the information technology stack and business transformation drive for a multinational conglomerate like Essar with access to various different business verticals, gives me the confidence to do justice to this new additional position,” he said.

Prabhu’s role as the CIO of Essar Group allowed him to understand technology offerings and their usefulness in business models. “I am thankful to Essar for giving me this challenging opportunity. In fact, they have always helped me expand my professional competencies by entrusting me with new responsibilities,” he said.

This role as the business head gives him a leverage in understanding the challenges faced by the CIOs he will be advising. “I am quite at home in the CIO community, which will be very helpful in understanding their current challenges, and providing them with the right solutions,” he added.

“I have picked up important lessons in my CIO role at Essar, and have been deeply involved in managing change from an IT perspective and the learnings have been invaluable. Those should stand me in good stead when designing and providing solutions to other organizations,” he said.
