After Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif, another actor to fall prey to the deepfake video is Kajol. The clip showed the actress changing clothes on camera. The original clip features influencer Rosie Breen who shared the clip on TikTok as part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend. The deepfake features Breen’s face being replaced with that of Kajol.
As per the fact-checking platform BOOM, the original video was of a social media influencer, and Kajol’s face had been morphed into the video. For a split second, the manipulated video features the face of the original woman. The report claims that the original video was uploaded on TikTok on June 5 as part of the “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) trend.
The emergence of growing apprehensions surrounding the misuse of deepfake technology has raised serious concerns after manipulated content involving other prominent celebs like Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif went viral.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said that deepfakes are one of the biggest threats faced by India and that they can cause chaos in society. He also urged the media to educate people on deepfakes. He mentioned that the citizens and media need to be very vigilant. PM Modi also added that he saw a video where he was doing Garba and it looked real. He went on to mention that the citizens and media need to be very vigilant in the light of such events.
