5th Annual DISTREE to witness keynotes on Virtual Reality, Distributor Transformation and Consumer Behaviour
The 5th Annual DISTREE APAC will take place at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore from 8th to 10th November, 2017. The regional channel event gives consumer technology vendors and brand owners the opportunity to hold pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with APAC’s leading distributors, plus senior executives from some of the region’s top retailers and e-tailers.
The DISTREE Asia-Pacific (APAC) 2017 will include an extensive conference programme, comprising keynotes and workshops, plus market snapshot presentations from key distributors in major countries in Asia. This year’s keynote speeches will be delivered by Event Partner GfK and by Content Partners CONTEXT and QUADMARK.
Event Partner GfK will deliver the opening keynote on Wednesday 8th November, entitled: “How Tech Trends will change Consumer Behaviour”. Presented by Gernot Teufel, Global Director IT & Distribution, the opening keynote will span a variety of topics from virtual reality to smart home, and mobile payments to wearables. GfK will explain how technology is changing consumer behaviour. This session includes an in-depth look at gaming’s potential for contributing to overall IT sector growth.
On November 9, Frederic Cosny, General Manager APAC, Quadmark, will deliver the event’s second keynote presentation, entitled “Distribution Transformation”. This speech will explore why major IT distributors are shrinking, consolidating and still not making much money. It will also examine the reasons why traditional IT vendors are laying off thousands. What is the future role of distribution compared to today? What is the impact of cloud, annuity and consumption on IT distribution? Are marketplaces and Amazon now masters of the universe?
The final keynote at DISTREE APAC 2017 will be presented by Howard Davies, CEO and Co-Founder of CONTEXT. The speech, entitled “Is Virtual Reality there yet?”, will present CONTEXT’s latest research into Virtual Reality (VR), which covers seven countries, including China. Areas covered will include the size of the market, the trends driving consumers towards this technology (or preventing them from adopting it) and the wider opportunities VR creates for the tech industry.
Liam McSherry, Marketing Director, DISTREE Events, said, “With 100-plus consumer tech distributors and select retailers from across Asia attending next month’s event, the keynote speeches are an opportunity to explore in depth some of the major trends impacting market development both from a channel business and consumer demand perspective.”
“As an independent tech channel event, DISTREE APAC drives meaningful conversations between vendors, distributors and retailers to accelerate the growth and development of the overall market. The keynote speeches form part of our unique event format,” he concluded.
Exhibitors at DISTREE APAC 2017 will represent the entire consumer tech product landscape, including high-growth product categories such as mobile devices, mobile accessories, smart home solutions, wearables and gaming products.
