5G to help India grow faster, says Manoj Kohli

I believe this technology (5G) will also help India grow faster. I also believe at the same time that 5G if you combine it with IoT, it will become more powerful, SoftBank India head Manoj Kohli said.
SoftBank Group has stakes in multiple technology, energy, and financial services companies, and runs a technology-focused $100 billion-strong vision fund. India would grow at a faster rate following the commercial launch of fifth generation or 5G services coupled with futuristic technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial intelligence (AI).says Kohli.
Kohli was speaking at the 5G Congress – 2021. By uncover strategies to enable scalable, reliable, robust & sustainable last-mile fiberization. This would cover not only the technical aspects of the rollout but the requirements of human capital and infrastructure limitations as well.
Further, he said that as India moves ahead in promoting localised manufacturing, the IoT would help new factories which are coming up to deliver faster manufacturing output, and faster warehousing.
"5G will bring more affordability in the cost of future traffic growth. Also, I feel that it will put India at par with the global peers," Kohli said, and added that the new technology could help India in becoming a $5 trillion economy.
There is a pipeline of $1.4 trillion of infrastructure projects in India which, he said is the largest single infrastructure program worldwide, and added that the Union budget has already focused a lot on infrastructure programs.
Kohli believes that 5G technology would be an important driver for the recovery of the economy, and if it rolls out this year, the investments will further recover by 2023.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is yet to come up with a blueprint of 5G network's commercial deployments following the paucity of dedicated airwaves in the country.
